WHCE Cook / Co-ordinator

SALARY: Hourly Rate: – £9.00 per hour

CONTRACT: Initially a 6 month, fixed term contract

HOURS: 16 Hours per week, with flexibility to provide occasional cover at evening and weekend events)

CLOSING DATE:  Midnight 31/10/21. We reserve the right to close the role early depending on responses which we will be shortlisted on an ongoing basis.

Job purpose and objectives

To run the Café to a high standard for the West Howe Community. To work with volunteers and the Community Development & Volunteer Manager to develop and improve the service provision.

The role of the Cook is to:

  • Work with volunteers to ensure the successful preparation and serving of nutritionally balanced and attractively presented meals at the Well-being Café for the local community attending the Henry Brown Community Centre.

  • Ensure cleanliness of the food preparation and service areas to meet the needs of the local community. Ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and is a safe and hygienic working environment

  • Work with the Community Development and Volunteer Manager to develop the service and menu selection.

Additional Information:

Must have a Food Hygiene Certificate (or be prepared to obtain).

Experience of catering for large numbers and be able to work flexibly.

Currently we are delivering hot cooked meals to our vulnerable residents. The café is open 4 days a week for standard breakfast and lunch service,

Monday 8:00 – 13:00

Tuesday 8:00 – 13:00

Friday 8:00 – 14:00.

We also hold occasional events at weekends and in the evening for which we pay overtime.
