Our Volunteer Champions have received additional training to support and signpost in various areas. They can be contacted at WestHoweChampions@gmail.com. Our Champions are unable to offer advice but will be able to point you in the right direction of where to go for more help if you need it.

Meet The Champions

Daryl

I have lived in the area for 12 years and I am the Men’s Health and Wellbeing Champion and Volunteer Rep for Activities. I also founded West Howe Men’s Shed. I enjoy getting men talking (men need to talk!) and also giving something back to the local community.

I can support in the following areas:

I am also Dementia Friendly.

Jan

I have lived in the area for 18 years and I am the Volunteer Rep for Henry’s Café and Howe Tasty volunteers. I enjoy my role and supporting others.

I like welcoming new volunteers to the centre and making people feel comfortable. I can answer queries or know who to ask!

Kathy

I have lived in the area for 52 years and I am the Community Fridge Coordinator. I am also a Volunteer Champion and support a team of Community Fridge Volunteers. I enjoy empowering the community and giving back.

I am also Dementia Friendly and Autism Aware.

Mandy

I have lived in the area for over 50 years and I am the Volunteer Rep for the Inspiring Change shop volunteers. I enjoy meeting and greeting people, the charity work and it makes me feel good that I’m helping others.

As a Volunteer Rep, I like welcoming new volunteers to the shop and making people feel happy in their role. I can answer queries or know who to ask!

Paul

I have lived in the area for over 40 years and I am the Men’s Health and Wellbeing Champion. I am a Facilitator for Andy’s Man Club. I love giving all men the opportunity to get together and talk about men’s issues.

I can support in the following areas:

Men’s Wellbeing and Mental Health

Andy’s Man Club is open every Monday (except bank holidays) at the Henry Brown from 7 – 9pm. Pop in for tea or coffee and a chat.

Teresa

I have lived in the area for 7 years and love volunteering in the Henry Brown. I am a Volunteer Rep and Volunteer Champion and really enjoy these roles.

Alison

I am the Volunteer Rep for the Community Fridge and Fridge Assistant on Thursdays. I have lived in Bournemouth all my life and lived in West Howe for 35 years.

I have two dogs, which keep me active, and work part time at Bournemouth University.

I enjoy meeting the community and helping out. I also volunteer with Dorset Police once a month.
